E’ tradizione in ASI che, al momento del rinnovo della tessera, le associate ricevano un piccolo gadget, ovviamente inerente al nostro amato hobby.
Quest’anno le associate hanno ricevuto un gadget davvero unico e particolare: dei bottoni artigianali fatti a mano.
BUTTON MAD nasce dall’idea di Jennifer Pascal nel 1984 a Johannesburg, in Sud Africa. Lavorava fino a tarda notte per creare questi piccoli capolavori, trasformando piccoli pezzi di argilla in bottoni di tutte le forme e dimensioni.
L’attività negli anni è cresciuta e, ad oggi, oltre alla famiglia di Jennifer sono coinvolte 45 donne della comunità locale sudafricana che, lavorando nelle politiche di commercio equo e solidale, ne guadagnano emancipazione economica e possono contribuire al sostentamento delle loro famiglie.
In Sudafrica si svolge l’intero processo produttivo: dalla provenienza delle materie prime alla presentazione del prodotto finito. I bottoni sono tutti fatti e dipinti interamente a mano. Ogni bottone, una volta creato, viene asciugato all’esterno, al calore del sole sudafricano, quindi cotto fino a diventare porcellana e dipinto a mano. I colori vengono fissati ad alta temperatura durante le 24 ore di cottura in modo da garantire la loro resistenza e durevolezza.
Il vero plus: sono resistenti e lavabili in lavatrice.
Possono essere usati per bigiotteria, bomboniere, quilting, punto croce, cucito creativo, abbigliamento e scrapbooking.
Noi del DT abbiamo avuto il grandissimo onore di tentare di rendere merito a questi capolavori utilizzandoli nella nostra creatività… eccovene un assaggio!

Claudia Pink ha utilizzato il feltro per creare un porta cellulare e ha utilizzato i bottoni come decorazione
Micaela ha realizzato un segnalibro con il bottone a gatto e strass oro, tono su tono, e un portachiavi con i bottoni a cuori!

Francesca PikiScrap ha realizzato questi due piccoli block- notes, usando i graziosi bottoni per fare la chiusura, e poi una scatolina fragolosa per contenere bottoni, ovviamente Buttonmad, idea carina da regalare.
